What Claude is
Claude is a hosted assistant for writing, research, coding questions, file creation and connected-app work. The Claude product is distinct from individual API models such as Sonnet or Haiku, and from Claude Code or Duet. Those names describe different ways to use the technology, not interchangeable subscriptions or interfaces.
It can help turn source material into a considered draft or an editable work file. The useful input is a clear goal, the material it may use and an explanation of what a successful result looks like. The assistant's fluency does not replace checking the facts or the generated file.
Read the official documentationHow it fits into a workflow
In the supplier-comparison workshop, the proposed workflow starts with a small CSV of quotes. Claude interprets the notes, produces a comparison and creates a workbook whose formulas can be checked. That recipe demonstrates how to define an acceptance check; it is a fictional exercise, not a measured procurement result or an application run by this directory.
Examples described as illustrative or proposed trials are editorial suggestions. Documented real builds, when available, are linked separately below.
Requirements, cost and limitations
Model availability, usage and schedules vary by plan. File capabilities and connected apps introduce additional settings and permissions. Check the linked product and pricing pages for current access; do not assume that a capability in the API or in Duet is automatically present in an ordinary chat.
Check current access and pricingWhen to choose it and what to compare
Consider Claude for a drafting or file-oriented workflow you can review in stages. Gemini Notebook is another approach for bounded source collections; a spreadsheet alone may be better for clean numerical data. The relevant comparison is the work completed and corrections needed, not the assistant's confidence.
