What Gemini 4 Argon is
Gemini 4 Argon is a cloud model that accepts text, images, video, audio and PDFs and produces text. It is intended for complex professional, coding and scientific workflows through supported API or product access. Broad input support is useful when a task combines several kinds of source material.
Input support must not be confused with media generation. Argon is not the image/audio generation model or the Live API described elsewhere in Google's product range. Its computer-use capability remains a preview, with the surrounding application responsible for tools and permissions.
Read the official documentationHow it fits into a workflow
An illustrative task is comparing a written report with a chart or supporting PDF, asking the model to identify the passages behind each conclusion. Check those references and numerical details against the originals. For an application, define the expected response structure and what should happen when the evidence is insufficient.
Examples described as illustrative or proposed trials are editorial suggestions. Documented real builds, when available, are linked separately below.
Requirements, cost and limitations
Check account access, the exact API or product surface and supported input constraints. Introductory API pricing has a stated end date of 30 November 2026, so a price comparison must be dated. A general Gemini app subscription does not by itself establish identical API access or allowances.
Check current access and pricingWhen to choose it and what to compare
Consider Argon for a multimodal source-analysis task, then evaluate it against other models that accept the same inputs. Use a dedicated image-generation or live-interaction product when that is the actual goal. Similar provider names do not make those capabilities interchangeable.

Frontier hosted candidate — editorial selection. How we use this label.
Paid Gemini API (not Free API tier). Current Google AI Pro/Ultra plans list Argon in Gemini and expanded Antigravity/AI Studio access, subject to countries/account terms; the older October13 launch mentions narrower Antigravity eligibility, so current plan page takes precedence.
Developer API prices
- Billing route
- Gemini API Standard
- Units
- USD per one million tokens
- Input
- $2
- Cached input
- $0.1
- Output
- $10
Output includes thinking tokens. Tool instructions/declarations are billed; grounding can add request charges. Implicit caching only. Batch/Flex token rates half Standard.
These introductory rates apply through 2026-11-30. From 2026-12-01, the published standard rates are $4 input, $0.2 cached input and $20 output per million tokens.
API prices are not a chat subscription price. A token is a unit of processed text; images and other inputs have their own token accounting. Repeated history, reasoning output and tools can change the final bill. A subscription may offer separately claimed credits, subject to its terms.

Product interfaces and their defaults can differ from the API ceiling. A long context limit is not a guarantee that the model reliably uses every detail.
What the configuration changes
Broad input types support source-analysis workflows.
Long-decode protocol can use up to the unified input/output limit, unlike the default synchronous response.
No native image/audio generation or Live API; computer use remains preview.
1,048,576 is a unified input+output budget, not 1M input plus another 1M output. Default synchronous max output is 65,536.
Benchmark evidence and what it means
These are selected source-reported observations, not a league table. Task, version, tool access, reasoning budget and test harness all affect a result. A historical score does not establish current leadership or accuracy on your own work.
